Extensive settings options, balanced I/O, and extremely low noise define the PPA V790, a 6-in, 2-out desktop phono preamplifier from Violectric designed to handle nearly any signal type from MM- and MC-type turntable systems, or any other audio source. The V790 sports DC-coupled inputs with three stereo pairs of balanced XLR inputs, three stereo pairs of unbalanced RCA inputs, one stereo pair of balanced XLR outputs, and one stereo pair of unbalanced RCA outputs for up to six pickups at once, making this unit an ideal preamplifier to sit at the heart of your high-fidelity home theatre system.
The V790 features an impressive range of controls uncommon in this type of device, including seven switchable impedance settings from 10 to 1000 ohms (for MC systems), eight switchable capacitance settings from 22 to 1000 pF (for MM systems), three selectable EQ filters utilizing RIAA standard, NAB, and LP-Columbia curves, a switchable 20 Hz low-cut filter, and seven gain stages ranging from +30 to +66 dB, including three gain boosts, making it easy to accommodate any piece of equipment or audio source. All parameters can be stored individually for each selectable input, so you never have to worry about writing down settings for different input sources.
MM turntable cartridges have higher outputs but suffer from lower inductance, which can negatively affect frequency response. Therefore, the V790 includes selectable capacitance settings ranging from 22 to 1000 pF, allowing you to find the ideal input capacitance for optimal sound quality.
- DC-coupled I/O with cascaded bipolar inputs
- Super-fast input transistors for maximum bandwidth, extremely low noise, low distortion, and maximum dynamics
- No discoloration of signals
- DC-coupled EQ filters: RIAA industry-standard curves or NAB and LP-Columbia for exotic sound carriers
- Switchable 20 Hz subsonic filter for eliminating low-frequency interference
- Gain boost settings of 0, +6, and +12 dB
- Clip indicator visualizes operating errors
