The result of leveraging over a half century of audio engineering prowess, the C 389 HybridDigital DAC Amplifier from NAD Electronics is an audiophile-grade centerpiece for a premium 2.2-channel sound system. Just add high-performance speakers and quality sources to complete the experience. The C 389 spans NAD’s history by providing both analog and digital inputs, along with dual MDC slots to support future functionality. However you use the C 389 over the years, the result is made to be the same: audio with ultra-low noise and distortion, near-zero levels of jitter, and pristine clarity. This is thanks to NAD’s HybridDigital UcD design and a hi-res ESS Sabre DAC borrowed from their premiere M33 streaming amp.

Powerful and Clear
Up to 130W RMS power per channel, and up to 350W of peak power, is available for your optional stereo speakers. Even with this kind of power, your audio sources will benefit from a wide dynamic range, nearly imperceptible distortion and noise, and superb clarity. This is due to NAD’s HybridDigital UcD design, which incorporates multiple UcD amplifier modules in a balanced bridged configuration, along with a switch-mode power supply. Digitally, a ESS Sabre 9028 DAC offers similar results with support for 32-bit/384 kHz hi-res playback.
Connect Everything
With the C 389 as the center of your Hi-Fi system, no source is left behind. An MM phono input with RIAA equalization gives vinyl lovers clear results with the suppression of infrasonic noise without affecting bass response. An HDMI eARC port supplies high-quality audio for TV and movies, and other sources can utilize the remainder of the C 389’s inputs: dual optical, dual digital coaxial, and dual sets of RCA line-level ports.
Future Expansion
Two MDC2 (Modular Design Construction) slots let you add modules in the future to take advantage of new technologies or add additional capabilities. Some examples include modules that offer Dirac Live room correction, which auto calibrates audio output to compensate for poor acoustics. You can also use a slot to add BluOS multi-room streaming, which can access over 20 services to play back hi-res audio in every room equipped with a compatible device.
