When I first connected my CD6005 and Klipsch Fortes to this amp I almost put it right back in the box to return. The sound was heavily veiled and compressed, like the speakers were in a box. I put a CD on repeat for a day and came back and it was sounding better. Put another CD on and came back a day later and it was better still. Tuned the radio to noise and left it for another day and it sounded better still. I think it needs about 3 solid days of burn-in for the capacitors to work properly. People debate this but it was clear in this case. And I wasn’t listening to it and getting used to it during this process. My system had been a Conrad-Johnson PV-5 into an older Marantz power amp, and initially the difference was night and day. On the fourth day I invited my 30-something son to help me do blind A/B testing and neither of us preferred one system over the other and in fact they were quite similar. SO, I kept it and sold the CJ.
