Enjoy precise and reliable vinyl playback with the Audio-Technica Consumer AT-LP8X Semi-Automatic Direct-Drive Turntable. The AT-LP8X features an aluminum J-shaped tonearm, inspired by classic Audio-Technica models from the 1960s and ’70s that automatically raise and stop the motor at the end of a record side.
The AT-LP8X can play records at 33-1/3, 45, and 78 rpm speeds. It is powered by a direct-drive motor regulated by a speed sensor that ensures continuously accurate platter rotation. The tonearm comes equipped with the ultralightweight AT-LT10 headshell and AT-VM95E cartridge with elliptical stylus. To reduce resonance, the 25mm aluminum platter is rubber damped and comes with a 2.5mm rubber mat. Additionally, the sturdy MDF box plinth houses a switching power supply and is outfitted with feet that can be individually adjusted to further reduce unwanted noise and vibration. The results are outstanding tonal quality, with excellent channel separation, and low distortion.
- Low-torque DC servo motor has improved wow and flutter performance compared to previous models
- J-shaped tonearm has adjustable vertical tracking angle
- Included subcounterweight provides an expanded cartridge/headshell weight range of 14 to 23.5g
- Internal switching power supply is optimized for audio performance
- Phono-level output provides pure, direct transmission of the cartridge’s signal

Couldn’t be happier with my purchase. It looks amazing. Was so easy to set up (there’s a great video by AT) and I plugged it into an old speaker. It sounds amazing. Music I’d loved for years sounds so much better than I imagined. Super exciting.

I upgraded from the AT-LP120XBT-USB to the AT-LP8X and was absolutely blown away by the improvement. It’s like stepping up to a whole new level. The sound is much more refined and dynamic. The vibration isolation of the turntable is significantly better, which, of course, has a positive impact on the overall sound quality.
The most important thing is that static clicks have completely disappeared. Even my old vinyl records now sound brighter and more profound. This is with the same cartridge setup, though I must note that I’m not using the stock cartridge. My setup includes an AT-ART9XI cartridge and an external phono preamp ALVA Duo Cambridge Audio.
The auto-stop and tonearm lift features work flawlessly and are incredibly convenient. I highly recommend this turntable as an exceptional product whose functionality and quality far exceed its price.

Everything about this turntable exudes top quality. The look, the touch and the feel. Even the included accessories such as the audio cable, 45rpm adapter, and attachment bits are first class. The cover hinges operate beautifully. The sound is just great with the included AT-VME95 cart, although I am upgrading to a Nagaoka MP200 soon. Love the LIFT function and the end of record lift and shut down. Could not be happier, I upgraded to the LP8X from a Pro-Ject Carbon Debut EVO, and this LP8X is a major upgrade from that.

Setup was a little confusing at first. The AT95E was mounted in the supplied headshell at 52.5mm from attachment point to stylus tip.The sound was not as good as I was expecting. I remembered that there is a printable template on Audio Technica’s website. After moving the cartridge all the way forward in the head shell (55mm), music became very good. The included cart is decent for the price. If you want to hear great sound, try the AT540ML. You won’t be disappointed.

I’m 63 and returning to vinyl to revisit my youth. This turntable has excellent build quality for any price in my opinion. The body of the turntable is quite heavy and the platter is substantial and has great sound dampening on the underside. The cables that came with it are also of very good quality. The auto lift on the tone arm is whisper quiet as well as the rotating platter. Put this together with a receiver/amplifier that has a phono stage, or a separate phono preamp and you can’t go wrong!
