Sound
MPC Key 37 ships with a core collection of sounds and samples from Akai MPC’s industry standard plug-ins. There are 8 plug-in instruments out of the box: including Hype, Odyssey, Mellotron and more; and over 10GB of production ready samples and drum kits. Together these offer over 1000 production-ready presets; and if you want to dive deeper, each plug-in instrument features advanced synthesis, deep parameter editing, and effects for programming exactly the sound you need. With 32GB of internal storage (plus removable media via SD card and USB), there is enough space to expand your sample and instrument library in whatever direction you need to take it.
Effects
MPC Key 37 includes over 100 powerful studio-quality effects for creative production and mixing. Insert lush reverb and delay effects into your tracks, add bounce and punch to your drums, and mix using modern or vintage style compressors and limiters. MPC Key 37 ships with cutting edge vocal FX plug-ins, which can also be used for straight vocals or creative sound design.
Control Surface
The MPC Key 37 features a synth action keybed with aftertouch, alongside separate pitch and modulation wheels. The synth-style keyboard action has been designed with players and producers in mind; whether tracking basslines into your productions or jamming out synth leads on stage. The 16-velocity sensitive RGB pads are the same award-winning pads as the MPC One+, with the renowned Time Correct, Swing, and Quantize, MPC features that continue to inspire producers at the top of the industry. Tweaking and editing take place on the 7″ multitouch display and five Q-link rotary encoders, giving you fine control and quick access to the parameters you need at your fingertips.
Connectivity
MPC Key 37 can act as a hub for your outboard gear: connect MIDI devices via USB or use the MIDI DIN in/out ports; integrate with modular rigs with the 8 CV/gate outs. Onboard Wi-Fi / Bluetooth allows for wireless synchronization with Ableton Link and MPC OS Updates, and the SD-card reader allows for volumes of expandable sounds and tracks.
DAW Integration
MPC Key 37 features a built in 2-in / 2-out USB audio/MIDI interface, so you can record audio and MIDI directly in and out of your computer. The included MPC software is a standalone DAW on your Mac or PC, so you get all the tactility and control of the hardware, but with as many tracks as your computer can handle. MPC software comes as a VST/AU plug-in, so you can open it in major DAWs such as FL Studio, Logic, Ableton, Pro Tools, or Studio One, and combine your favorite workflows.

    Just the right size to fit on my mobile desk and has enough octaves to be dangerous with common chord progressions. Although I’m new to the Akai MPC family, I was able to grasp most things quickly between You tube and the online Akai doc. The keyboard, buttons and pads are responsive and of good quality.

    Before hand, I was able to acquaint myself with the FREE version of BEATs. I found BEATs intuitive and much quicker to learn than Ableton and Presonus S1 DAWs. This process enabled a smooth leaning curve and swift workflow.

    The 2g of RAM stalls the VST loads for at least 10 seconds on things like the Fabric Collection. I also found that saving to Favorites Presets improved some of the delay time.

    Fabric Collection is one of the most sought-after AIR VST packages which Akai failed to offer as a one of the free downloads. I highly recommend this VST and JURA (offered free one time download).

    Although it took a little tweaking, the Akai MPC Key 37 syncs and respond well with Presonus S1 6.5 PC version.

    Just right. Keyboard, buttons and pads are responsive and good quality.

    Software downloads were confusing if you’re new to Akai. Samples and sequencing are great and easy to learn. Very good desktop product.

    When I purchased it, I had issues with it but Akai stepped in and helped me. The tech support team worked with me until I was happy with my experience. This device is great for the producer who likes to move outside of the studio or for the person with a small space to work in. This device works well. And the plugins are definitely a game changer.
