Whether you’re a beginner or revisiting your piano-playing past, the Yamaha P-S500 (White) is a smart digital piano that’s fully integrated into the Smart Pianist app to provide an enjoyable high-quality playing experience with features that accelerate learning, foster the joy of music, and help you progress on your musical journey. Connect your phone or tablet and use the app to take advantage of hugely fun and comprehensive performance capabilities like the Stream Lights function that tells you which keys to play and when to play them—enabling you to perform even if you can’t read music notation. You can also play along to any of 403 preset songs with your own backup band, or play along with automatically generated piano scores of songs you already have in your music library.
The P-S500 puts the sounds of two acclaimed concert grand pianos at your fingertips: the Yamaha CFX and the Bösendorfer Imperial. The piano combines a Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) keyboard with 88 weighted keys and Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) technology to provide an authentic piano-playing experience. A wide variety of superb instruments sounds is provided to spark your creativity including classic synthesizers, vibrant strings, percussions and drums, guitars, and more. Use the 1/4″ input to connect a microphone, so you can sing along while you play and hear your voice through the instrument’s speakers. You can also record your performances and musical ideas with studio-quality audio that gets saved directly to your smart device for easy sharing with friends and family. The keyboard ships with a music rest, and a PA-500 AC power adapter.

Authentic Piano Touch, 88-Key Weighted GHS Keyboard
- The Yamaha Graded Hammer Standard (GHS) keyboard features weighted action with heavier touch in the low end and lighter touch in the high end, just like the hammers inside an acoustic piano. Great for the aspiring pianist, practicing on the GHS action builds the proper finger technique and strength for when the time comes to perform on an acoustic piano.
Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM)
- Virtual Resonance Modeling (VRM) calculates the various states of the strings for each of the 88 notes on the keyboard from one instant to the next. As a result, the P-S500 reflects the limitless number of factors inherent in playing an acoustic piano, such as which keys are pressed, the strength with which the keys are played, and pedal timing.
A Fully Immersive Concert Grand Experience
- Binaural sampling is a method of sampling in which special microphones are placed on a mannequin’s head in the same positions as the pianist’s ears, to capture piano sounds the way that they sound in reality. This makes pianists feel as though they are sitting at a grand piano even when they play wearing headphones.

Playing Along with Your Own Backing Band
- 370 accompaniment and rhythmic backing patterns (called Styles) covering a wide range of musical genres, including pop, jazz, and many more, lets you single-handedly recreate the sound of a full band or orchestra.
Audio and MIDI Recording
- The P-S500 lets you record your own performances in two different formats: Audio and MIDI.
- Audio recording allows you to capture your playing conventionally, which you can then play back on your smart device.
- MIDI recording, on the other hand, lets you record up to 16 tracks, with separate left- and right-hand parts or complex multi-instrumental arrangements.
Microphone Connection and Vocal Harmony
- A microphone can be connected to the P-S500, enabling you to enjoy singing along with your keyboard performance or along with Song playback.
- You can apply various studio-quality effects such as chorus to your singing voice, and even cancel the vocal part on audio recordings—letting you sing along with (or instead of) your favorite artists and groups, and enjoy performing even more.
