Made to be a complete high-end solution to enjoying your vinyl records, the TD 402 DD Manual Two-Speed Turntable from THORENS features a direct-drive DC motor mounted under a damped aluminum platter to reduce resonance. The lightweight carbon fiber tonearm offers anti-skate to keep the stylus in place and maximize fidelity. Conveniently, the TD 402 DD comes equipped with an Audio-Technica AT VM95E cartridge and a switchable MM phono preamp built-in. A highlight of the turntable is its Auto Play feature, which gives some welcome motor automation to the manual operation of the tonearm, but can be turned off if desired.
Auto Play
The auto play function can be turned on or off via a rear switch. When off, the starting and stopping of the motor is manually controlled via the switch on the plinth. When turned on, the turntable will automatically start to spin as soon as you pick up the tonearm and move it away from its holder. The feature will also automatically turn off the turntable motor at the end of the the record.
