4K Ultra HD Blu-ray
4K Ultra HD Blu-ray is designed to show everything in finer detail than Full HD.
4K High Dynamic Range
Combined with the clarity of 4K, HDR allows for a greater range of color contrast and brightness, enhancing details from the original film format. HDR signals contain up to 100x the brightness of a standard (SDR) signal, increasing peak brightness while retaining deep and detailed blacks. The UBP-X800M2 supports the HDR10, Dolby Vision, and HLG (Hybrid Log-Gamma) HDR formats.
HDR to SDR Conversion
HDR to SDR conversion technology is designed to intelligently scale HDR’s wide brightness range into an SDR image to help maintain image quality on SDR TVs.
BT.2020 Color Space
Support for the BT.2020 color space means access to a wider range of colors than conventional TV signals offer. This means content creators can deliver more saturated and realistic color, from deep aquatic blues to natural greens and vibrant reds.
Dolby Atmos
Dolby Atmos treats sounds as separate objects, outputting appropriate sound effects through ceiling-reflective speakers for a more immersive sound.
DTS:X
DTS:X can create a near-unlimited number of audio objects, which adapt to your speakers in real time for enhanced sound object placement.
High-Resolution Audio Playback
Like going from HD video to 4K, High-Resolution Audio tracks are higher quality than MP3s and CDs.
DSEE HX Upscaling
Upscale the frequency and dynamic range of MP3s and other compressed music – even your CDs – to near-high-resolution quality.
Braced Chassis
The frame-and-beam chassis is designed to offer a rigid structure to eliminate micro-vibrations, as well as effective electrical shielding, for enhanced sound and picture quality.
Heat Sink
The integrated heat sink and the design of the disc drive are engineered to help keep your discs and the chassis of the UBP-X800M2 cool to extend your viewing hours.
Play Nearly Anything
With the UBP-X800, you can watch, listen to, and stream almost anything you like, including most high-definition video and High-Resolution Audio formats, and a host of popular streaming services.
SACD Playback
If you have Super Audio CDs in your collection, or high-resolution audio formats like AAC, FLAC, WAV, or DSD 11.2 MHz, the UBP-X800M2 will play them.
Stream and Play Most Video File Types
Play movies via USB and your home network. This Blu-ray player supports many popular video file types.
Versatile Connectivity
Well suited for home movies and music streaming services like Spotify, the UBP-X800M2 has digital coaxial and two HDMI outputs to connect to different system types.
Wi-Fi with Dual-Band MIMO
The UBP-X800M2 offers up to 4K video streaming thanks to Wi-Fi with dual-band MIMO technology, for a strong signal, even on the edge of your wireless network’s range.
Bluetooth Wireless Audio
The UBP-X800M2 supports Bluetooth audio transmission, so you can use your favorite Bluetooth headphones for private listening without wires.
Simultaneous HDMI and Bluetooth Audio Transmission
The UBP-X800M2 can send audio to your display via HDMI, and to a wireless speaker or headphones over Bluetooth, at the same time.
LDAC
LDAC transmits three times the data of normal Bluetooth for enhanced sound quality.
Separate Video and Audio HDMI Outputs
Send 4K HDR video and audio to your projector or display and A/V amplifier separately to simplify connectivity.
Digital Coaxial Output
If your amplifier isn’t equipped with HDMI, you can connect the Blu-ray player to it via its digital coaxial output.

Pro construction and is pretty much a plug and play unit. I agree with comments of others concerning the lack of a display on the front of the unit. At minimum Sony should have installed an LED light that you can see to tell if the unit is On. The current light is too small and too dim to see from across the room. Other than that, I am 100% satisfied with this unit.

I already have the previous model (UBP-X800M) which I had bought needing to buy a 4K player with a build quality comparable to my OPPO Blu-ray player with SACD and DVD-Audio capabilities. My

Conclusion? The Sony has a build quality every bit as good as the OPPO yet with a much faster load and response time! With this new purchase I decided to upgrade to get Dolby Atmos, HDR-10, Dolby Vision, and region free capabilities (region free is available only with players specifically marked as such) . I disagree with one negative review I read online that switching between regions is difficult – it is not difficult at at all! Highly recommended.

We bought this unit to replace a less advanced SONY blue-ray player with streaming capability. This unit is dramatically better than that older SONY unit (but also more $$) with streaming Internet video via Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth audio that enables headphone and sound bar connectivity.

My second; bought first back in 2019, came with two 4k disks. Amazing picture and sound and not just for the price which is unbelievable. Buy this and enjoy it, it’s so worth it.

I am very pleased with this unit. Had two more expensive Panasonic units, both that refused to eject media after a few month’s normal operation. This unit is also heavier than the Panasonics; it appears to be structurally stronger and better designed. Operation… So far, the few times a disc has stalled turned out to be smudges and finger prints on the media; after a quick cleaning, the unit has played on without a problem. The only improvement I would like to see involves playing Dolby Vision HDRs; you have to go into the Screen Settings menus to enable the separate Dolby Vision option before playing a Dolby Vision disc and then go back and turn the setting off for playing other media. Surely, any widely used video format should be automatically sensed after hitting the Play button. Overall, I think the UBP-X800M2 4K UHD Blu-ray Player is great; it is better than the two more expensive units that had disc drive problems. My last comment and recommendation is to compare brand warranties before you buy any expensive electronics. Some warranties cover parts for one year and labor for only six months!

Easy to set up, works well with Sony tv and shares some remote functions.

My 2011 Panasonic DMP-BTD310 Blu Ray player had been becoming finicky lately, so it seemed time to move on. I have a number of 3D Discs, so 3D capability was a must. Even though I don’t have a 4K TV, I like having the ability to play Ultra–HD Discs.

So far, it’s working perfectly. One Blu Ray disc that was breaking up at a certain point on the Panasonic plays perfectly on this player, as does everything else so far. Fortunately, my 2011 vintage XBR-46HX929 still works like new. Unless 3D makes a comeback, I probably won’t be upgrading to a 4KTV unless it breaks.

Both 1080p and 4K HDR Blu-ray discs look amazing on my 65 LG.

Purchased about three weeks ago at the same time as X93L 65″ TV. It is everything that Sony says it is, amazing performance, incredible sound and picture. With the TV and 4K Blu-Ray set up I’ll now move on to making my sound system choice, it will absolutely be Sony.

I have 3 Blu-ray Sony players (BDP-S6700) but it is not a 4K Blu-ray player. For a long time, I really don’t know why it can’t play any of my 4K burn Blu-ray discs. It has sound but no picture. If I burn my disc using resolution 1920×1080 then it plays fine, but at 3840×2160 it won’t play, though on their box and manual they fool customers with the phrase upscale 4K! Until now, I realize my old Sony players are not at all 4K. So, I search for a new Blu-ray player. After reading all those reviews about this Sony UBP-X800M2 it scares me with so many bad reviews about this player. But I need a new one, the one that can play my real 4K disc, so, I bite the dust and bought one. Boy, am I really happy. No problem whatsoever. The picture in 4K is really very sharp. I don’t know why people gave so many bad reviews. Sony must take a look on this matter and fix those issues. It spoils your reputation. I really love Sony products, and I am a fan of Sony since 60 years ago.
