The UBP-X700M features two HDMI outputs and a digital coaxial output for versatile connectivity options; one HDMI output exclusively transmits audio for connection to a non-ARC-compatible sound system or to separate your audio and video feeds. This Blu-ray player has Wi-Fi and an Ethernet port built-in to allow you to stream multimedia content from your home network. Purchased this blu-ray as I didn’t need the X800 model (only difference is that it can play some high quality audio CDs, not worth the $50 for my usage). Am thrilled with the cosmetic/mechanical side as the product is small, sleek, and quiet while running. The features on it are strong, with numerous apps pre loaded. The software is also fast and responsive in my experience (albeit limited). If you’re looking for a good upscaling Blu-ray player but don’t want to break the bank, this one is pretty gear. One thing to note is that the power supply is not internal, so this results in a power cord that has the big chunky plug to it. Make sure you’ve got space on the powerstrip for it.

Being the lower cost alternative in Ultra Blu-ray player, it is in every way precisely as advertised. On powering on and connecting it, I was prompted to install a new software update available. Without even doing the update, the player provided a great experience with standard blu-ray and a 3D movie.

I have had no problems with my ubp-x700. i have streamed several movies and a ton of music for over a month with no issues. no freezing or lag. it plays every kind of media disc i own. cd, DVD, blu-ray, and sacd. my favorite is how it plays music. the hd audio from this player really makes a difference that you can hear. excellent construction, and a great remote to boot. highly recommended especially if you have music in many different formats, this is the player for you.

SONY made a very nice 4K UHD Blu-ray player with the UBP-X700 /M. It even makes old DVDs look and sound great.
I did have a little issue getting it set-up properly. Initial set-up was a breeze including logging into my home Wi-Fi, which is nice, because it can be set-up to automatically update its software / firmware, which it did during the set-up process.
My issue was totally on me as I had 4K HDMI cables from the player’s Audio Only output port connected to the CD HDMI 4K input port on the receiver and the player’s Video / Audio output port connected to my receiver’s HDMI 4K Blu-ray input port. When I played a recently purchase DVD, I saw the video, but did not hear sound, nor did I hear any sound when playing a CD. SONY Tech Support asked me to plug the player directly into the TV – It worked, both video and audio! Tech Support then had me unplug the Audio Only player output port cable so that I only had the player’s Video / Audio player output port connected to the receiver’s HDMI 4K Blu-ray input port – It worked, both Video and Audio. I don’t know if it was the player or the receiver that got confused with my simultaneously connected cables, but it’s ostensibly a mutually exclusive (either/or) proposition. My experience might just help with someone else’s connection process.
I consider my purchase of this player to beat good one. BTW – SONY Tech Support was superb, patient, helpful, and understanding.

This Sony UBP-X700M HDR 4K UHD Network Blu-ray Disc Player is small but powerful. I have played several disks and haven’t had any problems. I am using it with my smart Sony Bravia TV and the video is superb. I bought it for its HD, 4k and blue ray capabilities. It can also be used with your WIFI system and via USB connectivity. If your computer is on the same network that also works so enjoy. I am enthusiastic about this modern technology. It also play your old stuff!

If you still use, have or buy DVD’s and your old player has gone poof then this is a very good player especially when on sale. It plays UHD and converts non UHD to best picture quality format. For sound quality it is ATMOS and works perfectly. I have compared Dune 2 from streaming to the UHD disk and the disk outperformed the stream and sound.
