Ten things you need to know.
(1) People love Instax Wide prints. Images shot in monochrome on white film look magical. Anecdotally, friends love these prints much more than smaller prints.
(2) It is fun to hold and use the lens effects. The physical buttons work well. The camera feels great in your hand, surpringly.
(3) You can’t add film sprockets or other film effects activated from the top button to images printed from your phone (at least I haven’t didn’t see so).
(4) Pressing the shutter release button doesn’t cause image capture for what seems like a LONG time. So much so that people and pets move on after you say cheese. Please provide better shutter button in future Evo Wide cameras.
(5) Printing color images in generally led me to print overexposed images.
(6) I didn’t see how you can save image edits that you later print. This might be operator error.
(7) The camera loves outdoor lighting. Indoor images were much more difficult to properly expose, particularly with the flash. I struggled to use the flash effectively.
(8) The selfie mirror was too small to see how you looked as a subject.
(9) No issues with the AF.
(10) The screen wasn’t that bright when used on an overcast day.
A great user experience at this price point for great prints. I hope Fujifilm continues to invest in this product line to release wide cameras with more expensive feature sets (sensor, lens, computational filtering).

I’ve only taken a handful of photos with it so far, my opinion may change.
Pros:
1. The size is nice. Way more convenient than my Lomo’Instant Wide. I can actually fit it in a bag.
2. It’s nice to not HAVE to print a photo.
3. I don’t have to worry about taking a photo with the lens cap on since you’d just see black on the screen.
4. The effects are nice. I’ve made good use of vignette so far. Some of the others are less useful but i guess they’re nice to have and easy to use.
5. love that it’s USB-C rechargeable.
6. It looks classy.
Cons:
1. The shutter button/switch/lever is very bad. it moves about 0.0 and maybe it takes forever to activate but i have no idea if i’ve pushed it or not and i end up with camera shake or just mis-framed shots.
2. the crank to print a photo is ridiculous on a 244.99$ camera. i’d rather long-press a button than turn a fake crank.
3. the screen is pretty pathetic for a 244.99$ device. the gap between pixels is very apparent and distracting
In conclusion, this seems like a huge cheat for instant photos. But on the other hand, i personally need to cheat to get decent instant photos. It’s a bit pricey at 244.99$, but i’ve got it now and it’ll definitely travel with me instead of my Lomo’Instant Wide. I’m looking forward to experimenting with the effects and styles. I was going to give this 3 stars, but i think I’ve talked myself up to 4. 3.5 maybe if i could.

I couldn’t wait for this camera to come out! It’s a great upgrade from the Mini Evo with lots of fun features. The app that goes with it has a lol of upgraded features and it’s easy to use.
The camera itself has weight and feels good in your hands. Highly recommend!

I like the ergonomics, easy to hold and carry. With the app it will print pictures taken on other devices.

This camera is a lot of fun to use. Seeing a live view of all the artistic filter options has directed a new approach to how I capture a moment. Expect multiple people in a day to come ask about the camera and all its capabilities. It starts to feel like you’re a Fujifilm ambassador for how many questions you end up answering.
Pros:
– Offers so many filter options to completely change a generic photo
– The digital images hold up surprisingly well considering the small image sensor
– Ergonomics and user interface is intuitive and practical
– The analog movement of printing a photo, along with the user interface showing an image being printed, is a joy every time
– Battery lasts me a full day of use
– You can print photos captured from your smartphone if you still want a physical keepsake of a moment but it wasn’t captured with the Fujifilm
Cons:
– The camera freezes from time to time by being stuck in live view limbo. There is a small reset button near the SD card and charging port that remedies the issue. However, MAKE SURE TO REMOVE THE SD CARD BEFORE RESETTING. The first time I did this, it erased all images on my SD card and lost two days worth of photographs.
– Will randomly get ‘card read error’ in the middle of use and resetting the camera will sometimes correct this. Other times, it does not. I ended up having to swap to a new memory card, backup the content of the other memory card and then reformat. This happened on multiple SD cards from different manufacturers, read/write speed and storage space.
– There is a rubber grommet that covers the SD card slot/charging port/reset button that doesn’t protect SD card. The rubber has enough elasticity that during handling the camera, something can bumped into the rubber and pushed on the SD card enough to eject it slightly out of its slot. This meant the card wasn’t fully engaged and I had no idea none of the photos I was taking weren’t being saved. It was only after I go to charge the camera and I removed the rubber gasket to see the SD card wasn’t seated. The camera never provided any prompts stating SD card isn’t active. (its a micro SD that requires depressing the SD card further into the slot for the spring to pop out the card).
