Developed in collaboration with Pittsburgh Modular, the Cre8audio Boom Chick is a hands-on analog drum machine built for beatmakers, performers, and modular enthusiasts. Featuring five fully analog drum voices, a powerful 64-step sequencer with per-step adjustments, and deep connectivity, Boom Chick offers classic analog tone with modern control. Use it standalone or integrate it into a Eurorack system—Boom Chick is a flexible performance-ready rhythm instrument with a fast knob-driven workflow and zero menu diving.
Five Fully Analog Drum Voices
Boom Chick’s sound engine is entirely analog, delivering punchy, character-rich tones without samples or digital oscillators. Each voice has a distinct circuit and a dedicated control section:
- Kick: Deep and resonant, with pitch and decay shaping.
- Snare: Crisp and snappy, with tone and noise controls.
- Drum Voice 1 and 2: The drum channels are reimagined classic Pollard Syndrums. They feature two analog FM percussion voices for metallic, bell-like, or experimental sounds, with adjustable modulation depth.
- Hat: A noise-based circuit with high-pass filtering and decay for tight or washy hi-hats.
All five voices can be triggered independently, sculpted in real time, and rhythmically automated per step using the onboard sequencer or external CV.
64-Step Sequencer with Performance Tools
Boom Chick’s built-in 6-track, 64-step sequencer supports up to 64 pattern slots, which can be chained to create extended arrangements or live sets. It features:
- Microtiming, probability, and step repeats, for expressive grooves
- Live or step-time recording
- Fill and pattern variation tools for dynamic performance changes
Modular-Ready with CV and Clock I/O
The Boom Chick can be used as a Eurorack-format synthesizer module. The module can be installed, rearranged, removed, and replaced in any compatible Eurorack case from Cre8audio, Pittsburgh Modular, or other manufacturers. Boom Chick interfaces with Eurorack or hybrid setups thanks to:
- Five dedicated CV trigger inputs (one per voice)
- Analog clock input and output
- Internal sequencer override when CV is present
This makes Boom Chick a capable drum voice expander or modular percussion source, ready to sync and interact with sequencers, gates, touch controllers, or modular clocks.
