Seamlessly merging vintage styling with modern technology, the HDR-19 AM/FM-RDS/HD Desktop Radio with Bluetooth from Sangean is packed with features to meet many of your home audio needs. The vintage styling comes in the form of a rounded, natural cherry wooden cabinet, black mesh grille, and analog controls. Covering almost all types of radio, the HDR-19 can receive AM, FM-RDS, and HD radio transmissions. For a more modern playback option, you can pair a phone or tablet to stream music over Bluetooth. A real-time clock and audio information are clearly displayed on the crisp monochrome screen. Well suited for nearly any room in your home, the dual alarms and sleep timer make it ideal for placement on a bedroom nightstand.
Radio Reception
- AM: AM radio with up to 20 presets.
- FM-RDS: FM radio with up to 20 presets and Radio Data System (RDS) support. With compatible stations, these signals will display the name of the station, program, song, and artist.
- HD Radio: Hybrid Digital radio seeks out analog stations and then digital versions. If a digital station is found, you’ll enjoy greater dynamic range, richer bass, and better stereo separation.
Wireless and Wired Playback
In addition to OTA radio transmissions, you can pair your mobile device via Bluetooth 5.2 and stream your favorite playlists and podcasts through the HDR-19. For non-wireless devices, you can input audio via an optional 3.5mm AUX cable.
Real-Time Clock with Dual Alarms
If placed by your bedside, you can use the real-time clock and dual alarm functions to help you wake up and start your day. Wake up to your favorite radio station or a buzzer. If you want a more gentle method of being woken up, use the HWS (Humane Wake System) to gently wake to the buzzer or radio.
Analog Controls
The left analog knob controls volume, while the right can tune in to radio stations or control Bluetooth playback. Built-in analog buttons control Mode, Dimmer, Alarm, Info/Menu, Presets/Bluetooth pairing, HD Seek, and power.

Sound is fine, radio reception good. Controls are a bit clunky (setting alarms and turning them on and off). Otherwise, a good addition to the audio arsenal.

HD radios are such a niche item (kids these days…) so first off I’d like to thank B & H for even carrying this item.
I don’t love the digital display – but it can be dimmed all the way off, which is great. It is a really nice looking unit – nice to have a wood object in the house that is also a highly functioning radio. We only use it for NPR so the tons of presets are going unused – (well, I set some just in case, but I know I’ll never use them). The sound is pretty great. There are a lot of factory preset EQs or you can set your own which… I’ve never seen in a radio before. The only negative really for me is the price – but I’ve looked at the competition and I guess this is where we are.
