A unique blend of control and flexibility, the InstantKon RF70 from MiNT is an INSTAX Wide-format instant film camera featuring a distinct folding design along with both fully manual and automated capabilities. In addition to the vintage-inspired folding design, the RF70 also sports a mechanical rangefinder that enables precise manual focus operation and supports an accurate 0.44x-magnification optical viewfinder for composing shots. In terms of operation, manual shutter speed and aperture control is possible, along with support for multiple exposure and bulb functions for creative results. The integrated 93mm f/5.6 lens features a triplet optical layout, with individual glass elements sporting an aspherical design and a multi-coating for high sharpness, contrast, and color accuracy. Additionally, the camera has a built-in flash, features a 2.5mm port for connecting an optional external strobe, is compatible with threaded cable releases, has a 1/4″-20 tripod mount, and features a settings LCD screen for reviewing exposure settings.

Folding design uses a bellows to maintain a relatively compact form factor when the camera is not in use, but still accommodates the large INSTAX Wide film format.
Mechanical rangefinder design enables precise manual focus control for working with subjects as close as 2.5′ away.
Both automatic (aperture priority) and manual exposure control methods are available; manual control makes use of a full range of shutter speeds, from 1 to 1/500 sec, and aperture settings, from f/5.6 to f/22. Also, A+1 and A-1 exposure compensation settings can be used in aperture priority mode.
Bulb setting is available for making long exposures up to 10 minutes long.
Multiple exposure lever enables making an unlimited number of exposures on a single sheet of film.
Built-in pop-up flash can be used for fill flash or to provide additional illumination to the scene for working in low-light conditions, and a 2.5mm port is also available for connecting an optional external strobe.
Integrated rear LCD highlights shooting settings for more intuitive manual exposure control.
Fixed 93mm f/5.6 lens features an all-glass triplet optical design with multi-coated elements to provide high contrast and color saturation. Individual elements also feature an aspherical design for impressive sharpness and low distortion.
Optical viewfinder features a 0.44x magnification and works in conjunction with the rangefinder design to provide an accurate field of view for composing shots.
Threaded shutter release button accepts standard cable releases, and a 1/4″-20 mount is also featured for working atop a tripod or a monopod.
Two AA batteries are used as the power source for the built-in light meter and LCD screen.

I never used an instant film camera before and I have always been digital camera user (SONY and Nikon). No doubt RF70 is the best Polaroid camera I’ve seen! It’s just amazing. The best thing of RF70 is the aperture control, and excellent shallow depth of field. I am very happy and having fun shooting with it.

Lovely camera with aperture control, shutter speed control. This is a birthday gift for my girl friend. We do enjoy this camera. It is a must for travelling. We brought it to our Asian trip last month. With the ND filter set I can use f/5.6 under sunlight with the 800ISO fuji films but still getting a shallow depth of field. How cool is it !!!

MiNT’s RF70 is one of the most clever and fun new camera designs I can think of. Excellent shallow depth of field. Love this instant film camera

The Mint InstantKon RF70 is an absolute blast to use. I bought it specifically to use at wedding receptions after seeing how much fun my kids FujiFilm Instax was at parties. The added benefit of full manual control makes this a no brainer for anyone that enjoys creating images.

I’ve used 5 different Instax Wide cameras (Fuji 300, Lomo, Toyo 4×5, Polaroid Land 450, RF70), and this is by far the best handheld option.

Framing takes a while to get used to, but the lens is sharp and moderately fast. Only complaint is it only seems to work with alkaline batteries and not rechargeable—even really powerful lithium. But overall great. Both auto and manual work well.

The Mint InstantKon RF70 is, for me, the optimal combination of quality and convenience for shooting Instax film. I can get more quality and character from my 4×5 camera with Lomograflok Instax back, but that is a time-consuming process and obviously impossible for handheld use. The InstantKon RF70 has a high-quality lens: sharp with pleasing bokeh at wide apertures. Build quality is decent: definitely superior to Fuji’s Instax cameras. Be aware that the rangefinder and viewfinder are separate, so shooting is not quite as fast in actual use as it would be with a combined rangefinder / viewfinder. My copy sometimes needs a little help ejecting the dark slide from the film pack: cutting or removing the tape at the top of the film pack solves the problem. I love using the camera and am very pleased with the results.
